LIMERICK may have no representation in this season's AIL division one play-offs but there remains hope of two major awards.
Mike Prendergast: key to Cookies success
This Saturday Young Munster travel to Musgrave Park to play UCC in the final of the ODM Munster Senior Cup while in Kilballyowen, Bruff host Terenure in the semi-final of the AIL division two league.
'Munsters' genuine annual hunger to win the famous silverware will provide an important incentive.
Kick-off for this final is 4.00, which has not been too well received by Young Munster fans. The late start is because of the AIL division one semi-final in Temple Hill which kicks off at 2.30. The decision is probably more out of respect for the league game rather than one of crowd control. Indeed, the majority of the fans at the Munster Cup decider look likely to be displaying the black and amber of the visiting side.
What a season Young Munster have had. Already promoted to division one A, they won the Limerick Charity Cup, their women's team won the AIL Shield and their junior team is now in the final of the Munster Junior Cup. Lifting the province's top trophy would put the icing on the cake for Mikey Prendergast and his squad and provide the Cookies' fans with another memorable day out.
