In what was a tense game with the visiting team never really settled. UCC opened the scoreline after 20 minutes with a try from Andrew Burke who drew in the Munsters defence before changing direction to score in the corner. The score line remained like that until four minutes before half time when Alan Kingsley was successful with a penalty. Kingsley was successful again three minutes later and Young Munster went in 6pts to 5pts ahead at the break.
Three minutes into the second half Young Munster extended the lead with another fine penalty from Kingsley. With the Young Munster pack now getting into their stride , a great move from a ruck ball and a great break from Ian Cross almost yielded a try. On 62nd minute Munsters were rewarded for their efforts when Darragh Payne touched down for a try to leave the score 14pts to 5pts, as Kingsley was wide with the conversion. UCC at this stage started to run everything and the munster defence was tested on numerous occasions.
With five minutes remaining UCC’s Willie Walsh touched down in the corner for a try which Burke converted to leave just two points between the sides. With the travelling supporters now in full voice and getting anxious the whistles were sounding all around the grounds to finish the game.
Young Munster held on to record their 10th straight victory in this division. A long journey home and celebrations well into the night for all last Saturday, well done to all again.
