Junior XV - Young Munster 22 v Garryowen 21

In an exciting north munster junior league match Young Munster were the victors by a single point for the second week in succession.

Young Munster opened the scoring in the 10th minute when some quick ruck ball from Brendan Guilfoyle to Eoghan O Byrne who gave the scoring pass to Donal Murphy who charged over from 5 meters out. Ian Cross added the conversion to leave the scoreline 7pts to nil.

Garryowen equalised with an interception try and conversion on 18 minutes. Two further penalties in the 30th and 35th minutes had Garryowen ahead 13pts to 7pts. Just before half time Ian Cross kicked a penalty to leave just 3 pts between the teams at half time.

Garryowen went 6 pts ahead 10 minutes into the second half with another successful penalty. With Young Munster upping their game Tom Cronin gave a great blind side pass to Darragh Long who beat two men to score in the corner. Ian Cross was just wide with the conversion. Young Munster now trailed by one. Garryowen themselves got into the game and scored another try unconverted to leave the scoreline 21pts to 15pts in favour of Garryowen.

Just when everybody thought the game was lost Donal Murphy again went over under the posts which Eoghan O Byrne converted to leave the score 22pts to 21pts in favour of Young Munster.

Best for Young Munster were Conor O Brien, James O Neill and Ian Cross in the backs and Ger Burke, Ken Hanley and Brendan Guilfoyle in the forwards.
