In what could only be described as very poor conditions this AIL match was played in dense fog. Young Munster started brightly with a penalty from Alan Kingsley after 10 minutes. Ryan Bambry replied 5 minutes with a penalty for Ballynahinch to level the scores.
A further penalty and a drop goal from Kingsley had Young Munster 6pts ahead after 35minutes. Bambry was again on target for Ballynahinch with two more penalties and Jonny Cullen dropped a goal to leave the score line 12pts to 9pts in favour of the visitors at half time.
Young Munster piled on the pressure in the second half and had to wait until the 75th minute for Kingsley to level the scores with a penalty. With two players in the sin bin for Young Munster and one for Ballynahinch time was running out for the league leaders. Right on que in the 80th minute Kingsley landed another penalty and Young Munster went on to hold out for an important victory.
This weekend Young Munster host Dungannon the only side to beat the cookies in the first round.
